Rags to Riches. The reality plan. Part 1
Ambitious, resilient, royally pissed the hell off, and technically homeless? <—- Yeah I’m that guy right now. =(. Yesterday was just one of those days where I’d rather poke jello all day than re-live it. It started off well but later in the day turned in to a nasty family situation which ended with me moving out right then and there. Good thing I have absolutely the most amazing friends. Yes, I’m implying that I am now living with one of my best friends.
But enough of that. The purpose of this post is to inspire those in a similar situations to get themselves up and going financially. In a low point of life some people may tend to turn to the dark side and pick up bad habits. My suggestion? Well this is what I plan on doing. It’s one word, and it’s simple: Hustle. I’ve bought myself a few weeks since my friend is letting me stay with him. In these few weeks this is going to be my exact game plan to make money.
1. Find my self a well paying part time job.
2. Expand Framingham lawns and hire a trust worthy friend as an employee. Yes I said hire. I know that may sound a bit out there considering my financial situation, but for me “leverage” is the name of the game. Between a part time job and hiring an employee I’ll have a small but solid income. Most importantly this will buy me some time to market and expand Framingham Lawns leading me to a bigger income within the next month all while doing less work.
3. Get rid of things that I don’t use or things that don’t work (ex: My truck =( rip. ). What I’m talking about is that guitar you bought years ago in hope of learning, or that second I pod that you just couldn’t resist buying because it was such a great price!! YAY!…..no. In short if you haven’t really used it in the last year or so just sell it. You’ll be surprised what a lack of clutter and an open mind will do for you. Here is a personal recommendation for selling that kind of stuff. Craigslist.org <– this website is an awesome outlet to sell your crap. I kid you not. It does not matter if you are trying to sell a hamper of dirty gym socks. Someone on craigslist will want it.
Possibilities are really limitless. Metaphorically speaking I like to think of this as kindling a fire. Once the financial base is started it will enable you with the potential to grow. You will be able to invest in bigger ideas resulting in larger financial outcomes. At the moment my primary focus is not to think too far ahead (leading to mind cluttering), but to focus at the tasks on hand. In a few week I’ll write a post on expanding your financial ideas and exactly how limitless they are. Till then I hope this helps someone out there.
